Iraq – Laying the foundation for the restructuring of Great Mousque of al-Nuri and Hadbaa Minaret in Mosul

In the midst of the ruins in the old city in Mosul, whose buildings were destroyed as a result of liberation battles between Iraqi forces and ISIS, the ceremony of laying the foundation for the restructuring and expansion of Great Mosque of al-Nuri and Hadbaa Minaret was held, with the support of the UAE and under the supervision of the Iraqi government and UNESCO. The President of the Iraqi Sunni Endowment Dr.Abdul latif Al Heymem attended the ceremony along with Louise Haxthausen representative of UNESCO in Iraq and a big number of officials and citizens. This projects aims to bring back life to the old city, kick start the economy in Mosul and encourage donor countries to contribute in helping the citizens who lost their houses and possessions. Citizens of the old city ask that this project provide job opportunities for those residing in the area as they were the ones who suffered most due to the war.
