Iraq – A difficult time for Baghdad as the US exemption deadline approaches

There are less than 10 days left till the exemption deadline, which was set by the American president Donald Trump for Baghdad to end its economic relations with Iran. Regarding this, economists believe it will very difficult for the country as there are no suitable alternatives for importing electricity or gas used for power plants. Not to mention that finding a full alternative needs a period of at least 18 months. However, political analysts believe that the visit of the US Energy Secretary the day before yesterday is an attempt to open the door for negotiation between the US and Iraq in order to find an alternative regarding the sanctions on Iran.
