Iraq – US Secretary of Energy arrives in Erbil to talk over several topics with Barzani

US Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, arrived in Erbil on Tuesday accompanied by his delegation, and he was greeted by Massoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, along with officials in the energy sector. A press conference was held by the two sides in Erbil, during which Barzani emphasized the firmness of the relationship between the US and the Kurdistan region. He added that this visit creates a great opportunity for addressing a few topics about Baghdad and Erbil’s relationship, and ways to enhance the bilateral relations between the US and the Kurdistan region. Perry confirmed that his country intends to promote the US private sector investment in Iraq. He also praised the efforts made by the Peshmerga forces in fighting ISIS.
