Palestine – Gaza farmers begin annual olive picking season early

Olive growers in the Gaza Strip began to harvest their crops earlier than usual this season, as there are mass olive picking campaigns, interspersed with rituals and customs such as food, drink and even traditional songs during the picking process. Some owners of olive groves stressed that they are harvesting their own crops because of their inability to afford labor costs, especially in recent years where the olive seasons have witnessed a significant decline in production quantities, expected to cover 70% of the sector’s oil and olive needs.
