Syria – Cautious optimism after a Russian-Turkish agreement on a demilitarized zone in Idlib
Idlib – Syria 18/09/2018
The opinion of the people of the province of Idlib varied after a Russian-Turkish agreement on the establishment of a demilitarized zone in the province at a depth of 15-20 km along the line of contact between the Syrian opposition forces and government forces, between a cautious supporter of this agreement and the fear of the inability of the two sides to maintain this area which aims to protect civilians from Syrian and Russian air strikes. A number of Idlib residents stressed that what they want in the first place from the agreement, which stipulated the withdrawal of extremist groups from the region, is not to expose their areas and homes to air strikes and restore normal life in the province.
