Palestine – Warnings of humanitarian catastrophe due to lack of fuel in Gaza

The Department of Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip has warned of a humanitarian disaster if the fuel allocated to the operation of the hospital’s generators runs out. The director of the hospital, Medhat Abbas, said during a press conference held on Sunday in Gaza that the currently available fuel does not cover the need of the hospital for more than one week, noting that the different sections of the hospital provide health services for thousands of people in the sector. For its part, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the work of its hospitals in the sector is threatened to stop completely in the event of depletion of fuel stocks, which the Israeli authorities prevent entering into the sector unless it is under their supervision.
