Syria – Efforts to impose a new curriculum to teach Syriac language in Qamishli schools

The Syriac parties of self-administration seek to impose a new curriculum in which Syriac people can speak their mother tongue, which was rejected by the Syriac Church as schools belong to the Syrian government and no one has the right to change it or tamper with it. The head of the Syriac Union Party, Sanharib Barasoum confirmed that their main aim is to teach children their language as a cultural and political right.
