Mosul residents returned to practice their customs and rituals by visiting the graves of their dead on the first day of Eid. Karama Area Cemetery on the left side of the city of Mosul was crowded with citizens who came to visit their dead loved ones graves who were killed by ISIS organization and during the liberation battles. ISIS organization banned citizens from this ritual during the 3 years of their control and they imposed sanctions on Violators of their extreme decisions. Among the visitors to the cemetery on the first day of Eid al-Adha, “Abu Karam,” who was forced to bury one of his sisters who died during the battles of liberation of Mosul in the school yard near his home in the old city in Mosul temporarily, because of the siege imposed by ISIS on the civilians which prevented them from burying their dead the city cemetery, but her remains were transferred to the city cemetery after the liberation of Mosul from the control of the organization in 2017.
