Iraq – Sparks of protests reaches Baghdad

Baghdad – Iraq 22/7/2018

Hundreds of Iraqi citizens participated in a peaceful demonstration in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to protest against corruption, power outage and lack of public services, joining the southern provinces where the demonstrations began two weeks ago. The demonstrators raised banners with slogans saying, “We have reached our limit, and we demand the change of government”, demanding the overthrow of the parties of the parliament and the work of the presidential system on the provision of jobs for the unemployed in light of Iraq’s oil resources. On the other hand, Security forces dispersed demonstrators using water hoses and tear gas as they approached the Green Zone.
