Iraq – Article 38 coalition calls for meeting the protestors’ demands and stop shooting them

Article 38 coalition, which consists of civil society organizations, condemned the security forces’s use of live fire against demonstrators in Baghdad and the southern provinces of Iraq. They appealed to the government to protect the demonstrators, cancel the arrest orders, speed up the implementation of their demands and open channels of dialogue with them. They also asserted that cutting off Internet service constitutes another constitutional violation of freedom of expression and contributes to isolating Iraq from the world.
