Residents of the old city of Mosul recalled the first anniversary of bombing the historic Nouri Mosque and its famous minaret, which were detonated by ISIS members in June last year as the Iraqi forces moved to liberate the remaining areas of the Old City on the right side of Mosul. The people of Mosul called to accelerate the reconstruction project of Al-Nouri Mosque and its minaret, which the United Arab Emirates adopted the reconstruction operations because of their symbolic and great place among the people of Mosul, Iraq and the entire region, stressing that the reconstruction of the mosque and its minaret will be a motivation to reconstruct the other destroyed buildings, and it will also help bring life back to the Old City and other areas. The UAE has pledged to rebuild the mosque, which was built in Mosul in 1172 by Noureddine Zanki, and it allocated $50 million to help rebuild the mosque and its minaret.
