Athra Jewish market is an ancient market known for the sale of spices and herbs used for traditional medicine to treat many diseases. Isaac Jacob, who has been in the market for forty years, says that the market was named after a person called “Athra” who fled from the Turkish city of Nusaybin to Qamishli in 1928, and he established the market with professions which he inherited from his ancestors who worked in the profession of commerce and perfumery.
